DELTONA CAMPUS DIRECTORY

I was given the opportunity to design the wall directory for Daytona State College’s newest building on the Deltona Campus based on the popularity of my door wrap design featured on the same campus. I was able to create a custom font to experiment with typography as texture which you can see in the background. The objective was to create a wall graphic visible when you first enter the building that details how you get to different labs/offices within the building. Working with the President’s office, I came up with this solution:

During the progression of this project, a few obstacles came up...

When the wall was measured, they initially didn’t account for the six-inch column that would cover part of the graphic, so I ended up having to move design components around to remedy this. Rather than the initial use of arrows, we also needed to come up with a way to convey different floors, as the arrows made it seem like the one pointing up led out the doors.
